Unit Regulations

****Personal Appearance****

Hair-  Hair is to be cut above the ears and collar and tapered up the sides
and back.  It is to be a natural hair color.

Sideburns- will not extend past the middle of the ear and will be neat in
appearance.  (No Mutton chops)

           Facial Hair-
After 1916, you would rarely have seen frontline Soldaten with a full beard. Generally, men were either clean-shaven, had moustaches or, at the most, had a goatee. This can easily be substantiated by looking at period photographs; the reason for this being so that the Gasmask would seal properly to the face.

Jewelry- Jewelry will be limited to wedding bands or another type of period
ring.  No mood rings, earrings, tongue bars, face spikes or anything else
post 1918.  Remember you are portraying a poor soldier for whom a wedding
band would have been a great expense.

Watches-  There is great latitude here.  A pocket watch is best as wrist
watches were expensive and would not be readily worn by regular soldiers.  You are welcome to wear
a wrist watch but it must be pre-1918 in appearance (they were large) and
not a digital or calculator watch or any such item.
